Why My E-book Isn't Selling

In August, I took a leap of faith and created something I’d been dreaming about for years—my very first e-book, Signature Social Strategy. It’s a guide designed to help small business owners and solopreneurs finally take the stress out of social media and build a plan that actually works.
When I hit “publish” back in August, I thought selling a digital product would be simple. But here’s what I quickly learned: most of my audience knows me as Alex, the photographer—not Alex, the social media strategist. My sales have been non-existant. And that’s when it clicked. My book wasn’t the problem. My messaging was.
That moment became a turning point. I realized if I wanted this resource to truly reach the people it was meant to help, I had to do more than just announce it, I also had to reintroduce myself. So right now, as part of my rebranding, I’m leaning into the other side of my expertise that includes over 10 years in social media strategy and management.
This e-book is one of the first ways I get to share that knowledge with you, not just as a photographer, but as someone who’s been helping brands and businesses navigate the ever-changing world of social media for years since 2013 in my 9-5.
So, I gave myself 90 days to stick with selling this e-book and to hopefully sell 30 copies. Here's what I'll be doing to keep the momentum going and hopefully push the book out even more and bring in better sales. But here's what I'm currently doing as well as things I'm planning to do:
Talk about the selling journey exclusively in my email list/ newsletter
Blog about the book ( sharing bite size nuggets of what can be found inside)
Website - adding it to my website in a more visible place
LinkedIn Newsletter - using this as an advertising vehicle
Running social media ads ( Instagram, Facebook, possibly LinkedIn)
Going live to discuss various topics from the book along with general social media strategy
Sharing more social media strategy and business content on my social media feed

Looking for collaboration opportunities
Offering a free webinar to discuss the books contents
Maybe this will work, maybe some of it won't. But I'm going to share my journey along the way and regardless of what happens I will still win, because the real goal is GROWTH.
